Black Lives Matter

0

I see what racism does to a community every single day I got to work. In real life, I am a homosexual man, and while I have been discriminated against many times, the word GAY is not tattooed on my forehead. People can look me right in the eye and never know I am a person they hate or fear. I have privilege and I recognize it. The people who are so threatened by the phrase “Black Lives Matter” don’t understand what racism really is, how systematic it is and how permeates through every institution from schools to prisons.

Recognizing your privilege is an important first step, but we don’t have time to wait for everyone to catch up. It’s time for sweeping reforms. I’m not an expert, but I’m listening.
